DEC Identifier® kit detects 13 virulence genes of five major pathotypes of diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC) along with a spiked-in internal amplification control (IAC) in four multiplex real-time PCR reactions. It can be used as a standalone assay for identification of DEC pathotypes and virulence genes. It can also be used as a companion kit for DEC Sensor® kit to determine the specific DEC pathotype(s) and virulence gene(s) present in positive test samples.
